Nato a Nairobi e attualmente residente a Berlino, KMRU è un artista del suono e produttore i cui metodi includono field recordings, improvvisazione, noise, machine learning, radioart e drones. La sua musica è stata elogiata da NPR, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, DJMag e Bandcamp.

KMRU è un membro fondatore di Black Bandcamp, un  impegno DIY per promuovere la Black music. Presenta uno show mensile su Internet Public Radio, guests su NTS e Rinse FM e organizza seminari per Nairobi Ableton User Group.
