Pan Daijing is an artist, musician and composer from Guiyang, China who lives and works in Berlin. Her raw approach as a composer and performer channels sound to tell stories in many forms: performances, installations, films, dance and poetry. Soul-baring utterances and sonic, aesthetic outbursts are the main tendons of her practice. Frequently invoking improvisation, spatial interactions and a highly personal engagement with spectators, her poetic and haunting performances interweave vehicles of power and vulnerability to explore psychological states.
Daijing has performed and exhibited her work in some of the most relevant institutions, venues and festivals, including Barbican Centre, London; Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg; Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin ; Berghain, Berlin; Sonar, Barcelona amongst others. Recent projects include Dead Time Blue commissioned by and performed at Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin in 2020; opera Tissues and installation performance The Absent Hour commissioned by and exhibited at Tate Modern, London in 2019.
